Did you know there is an epidemic of childhood obesity in America? Not only are children exercising too little, they are eating too much pre-packaged foods, both from grocery stores and fast food restaurants. Most children don’t even know where their food comes from. There seems to be an increasing loss of connection between food with fresh ingredients and home-cooked family meals.

Raw Inspiration, the non-profit operator for California Certified Farmers’ Markets intends to “bridge the gap”. Its grassroots group of individuals whose objectives are to give schools the means to educate children in the cultivation and harvest of organic fruits and vegetables are always eager and willing to share their knowledge (and always gain a little themselves from the children) in the gardens into schools program. ​​

Working in coordination with California Certified Farmers’ Markets, Raw Inspiration’s mission is to bring organic gardens to all schools in the communities surrounding their respective farmers markets, with gardens at Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, and La Canada currently in the works.

Additionally, in the future, children will be able to harvest their own crops and sell them at their own farmers’ market. Their proceeds will go to benefit the school. This is only some of what the Farmers’ Markets gives to the community.
